Ravana Performs Last Rites
The episode starts with Ravana performing the last rites for Meghnath. Meghnath’s wife, Sulochana, says that her husband was killed by Ravana, not by Lakshman. She adds that she is now a widow because of Ravana’s pride and stubbornness.
Mandodari arrives and says that Sulochana is right. Ravana has taken many husbands and fathers from others. She urges him to stop being stubborn and to halt the destruction. She explains that Ram is no ordinary man, and if Devi Nikumbhila could not save Meghnath, Mahadev will not save him either. She cries, deeply saddened.
Ram and Agastya Discuss the Yagna
Ram thanks Sage Agastya for coming. Agastya advises them to place 108 lotuses in the yagna to please the goddess. He tells them they need to obtain these lotuses to make her happy. Ram explains the form to Agastya. Hanuman asks where he should start his search.
Agastya tells him to go to Mansarovar. Hanuman departs, and Shukha watches. He goes to tell Ravana everything. Ravana says he will also try, and he respects Meghnath’s sacrifice. He believes that Mahadev will bless him and he will write Ram’s end. He plans to perform the yagna and seek victory with Mahadev’s blessing.
Hanuman’s Search for Lotuses
Ram says that the goddess will decide if she is pleased. They can only pray. Hanuman reaches Mansarovar and asks the lotus to come with him as Ram needs it for his task. He picks up the lotuses and counts 107. He wonders how to get one more and prays to Devi Pakarti.
He sees a lotus and tries to take it but realizes it is a bud. He asks the bud to bloom for Ram’s work. The bud blooms, and Hanuman smiles, chanting Ram’s name. He recounts that he might have made a mistake, and he has no other option. He counts the lotuses again.
Ravana’s Prayer and Ram’s Preparation
Ravana prays to Mahadev. Ram prepares for the yagna. Parvati remarks that one stands for righteousness while the other spreads unrighteousness. Mahadev watches. Parvati asks if Ravana believes he needs Mahadev’s blessing to save his and Lanka’s honor.
Hanuman returns and shows the lotus, saying he has completed the task. Ram smiles. Jambvant asks if the lotuses are 108 and if he counted correctly. Hanuman says he will count again. Ram says it’s not necessary, as the task is complete with what Hanuman brought.
Hanuman smiles and insists on recounting. Ram says he can, but he will first pray to Mahadev to ensure the goddess is happy. Mahadev and Parvati smile. Ram and Ravana sing during the worship. Mahadev says that Ram has simplicity, while Ravana has brightness in his voice, and it’s impossible to refuse them.
