Bhim’s Warning and Jijabai’s Message
Bhim warns the upper-class people that anything can happen anytime. He turns to leave when Jijabai comes and tells him that she has just met Meghnath, who has sent a message that will change Bhim Rao’s life. Jijabai asks if they all fear Bhim Rao or if they don’t want to take revenge on Meghnath.
When asked if they are afraid, Jijabai tells Bhim to leave because she wants to talk to him. Jijabai tells everyone what Meghnath’s message was, and they understand the plan.
Jijabai’s Plan and Upper-Class Reaction
As Bhim leaves, he remembers Jijabai saying Meghnath sent a message for the upper-class people that would ruin Bhim Rao’s life. Jijabai says if the plan works, Bhim will be forced to leave Bombay, making it easier for Meghnath to be freed.
The upper-class people start leaving in pairs. Jijabai thinks this is good because the place where Meghnath was standing was good. Shishupal tells Jijabai that it’s not peace but just her imagination. Shamla says she is saying this because people followed her advice.
Shishupal says that after her father stood in that place, he went to jail, and Jijabai is making the same mistake. He says anyone who stands there will go to jail. Jijabai says their friend Bhim Rao won’t see the night after tomorrow in Bombay.
Bala’s Concern and Jijabai’s Plan
Bala suggests that maybe Jijabai did something to her in anger, and she might try to kill herself. They plan to search for her when Bhim says it’s useless because she will be coming. Ram asks where Jijabai is when he hears she was just returning a sari and looking for work.
Jijabai says Bhim shouldn’t take it as coincidence since she has stopped seeking help. She plans to confront them. Bhim replies he never thought that. Jijabai asks if he told them where they met, so she agrees to inform them.
Jijabai says she went to jail to meet Meghnath, who gave her some messages. Karuna asks what kind of messages. Jijabai questions why she should tell Karuna if she is not on her side. Ramji asks if she has fallen so low.
Upper-Class People’s Actions
The upper-class people go to kidnap the officer. The soldier tells the officer about the kidnapping and remembers Jijabai saying Meghnath wanted them to kidnap the officers and then demand the release of their leader. They decide to go to the senior officer. The officer leaves saying he will talk to the seniors.
Demands for Meghnath’s Release
The upper-class people are demanding Meghnath’s release. Bhim, with his supporters, watches them. Shishupal informs Bhim that they have taken thirteen officers hostage and have the same demand.
Officer’s Visit and Bhim’s Problem
The officer goes to the senior officer and says people are demanding Meghnath’s release and believe they should also send Bhim Rao out of Bombay because of the king’s condition.
In the morning, the officer enters the chawl calling for Bhim Rao, who comes to greet him. The officer says they have come to take Bhim Rao with them, making everyone worried. The officer says the king said Bhim is needed elsewhere and it’s not safe for him to stay in Bombay, so he should come.
Ramji asks why this sudden change, but the officer says they will leave the day after tomorrow, making everyone anxious. The police officer also arrives, informing Bhim Rao that the king sent a signal and his report says if he stays, it will cause a rift here.
Bhim follows his father
Jijabai says Bhim and his supporters think they can’t cause trouble and only spread happiness, but she says the truth is he is going to cause this violence. Bhim says he discussed this with Meghnath. Bhim replies he will definitely go to the king because the king helps him, but Ramji leaves angrily. Bhim follows his father, who swears not to let Bhim go.
He tries to explain to his father, who responds that this is not sudden but a plan to send Bhim away so Meghnath can be freed. Bhim says that those who stop die, and Bhim Rao is not born to stop. He says Ramji advised him to keep his feet strong and endure pain but never stop.
Ramji admits he said this but didn’t know Bhim would go so fast with his life and head to Barudha, where he has no one but old acquaintances. He says Bhim should refuse to go. Bhim replies that since the king helped him and he has to go to Barudha, how can he refuse? Ramji says Bhim can go after he dies, but not now. He leaves without listening to Bhim.
Bhim’s Conversation with Rama
Bhim tells Rama that he tried hard to work and build something for himself, but now he feels the path to London goes through Barudha. Rama asks what if he continues with the same work since he is not made for it. Bhim says change can come from anywhere.
Rama replies he can go directly to London, so why go to Barudha? Bhim explains that since her husband is poor and doesn’t have money, he is going to Barudha to work and save some money before going abroad. Rama becomes emotional.
